The gunnery

Some pics of me at the range... well, too bad, you dont get to see me MUHAHAHAHA. Last weekend I got to go to a range here in town to check it out, and also to test some of their handguns that were there for sale. Luckily I got to see a long lost handgun, a Makarov... I would also had been satisfied with the East German version since their firing pin is known to be made of a higher grade steel, BUT STILL. How freakin awesome is that? Im not sure if this was a Russian or Bulgarian model, but will have to look further into it.

Wait... what is this? Osama target? hahahaha.. lets see what we can do here... *loads the awesome Makarov* ^_^

hmm... well, for being the first time I've shot this compact gun I'd say it was
semi successful. (that is my shot at about 15 yards). This Makarov can hold 7 rounds + 1 in the chamber (Technically it can hold 8, but I still like to keep 1 round out of mag to not stress spring). This handgun uses 9mmx18 rounds also known as 9mm Makarov rounds and were slightly more on the expensive side, although weighing in at 730g, and being a little over 16cm in length, I instantly drooled all over this mechanical beauty. This marvel was originally introduced to loosely imitate the accurate and highly marketed German Walther PP, which in itself is another note worthy handgun... in fact I would definately go with a PP or PPK (shorter version of PP), although something really odd about the these two children is that their safety has to be turned upwards to fire instead of downwards. Not to mention the novelty value of carying the same type of firearm that the original James Bond used to carry (of course, he called it a PP7 alike the term 007 instead of just PP ^_^). Not only that but the PP is a little bit lighter and carries aa standard 9x17mm (or .380 ACP) rounds... which in itself carries less of a kick than the Makarov Rounds.

This is a Taurus PT 911 really beautiful gun, but not my favourite... a little too bulky and didnt handle to my taste. I like the 15 round capacity though. On the bad side the safety guard at the top of the handle is setup for ambidextrious usage, so after every shot (since the kick in this little puppy is huge for a 9mm) the safety has a tendency of scraping off your thumb if you are not careful also every once in a while will accidentally flip up and turn the safety on [a large inconvenience].

Here is the Taurus' mag fully loaded with 14 rounds. The large cap mag can hold up to 17 although I always leave at least 1 round out to not strain the spring. The PT911 series was a derivate of the pt92 and 100 series and was introduced in 1997 as a 9mm version of the previous .40 and .45 ACP. This version uses 9x19 Parabellum rounds and weighs about 817g . A little bit on the heavy side for my taste in a 9mm.
